SAMUEL ISSACHAROFF

Reiss Professor of Constitutional Law, NYU University (USA)

His research addresses the law of the political process and constitutional law, as well as issues in civil procedure (especially complex litigation and class actions).  He is a co-author of the seminal Law of Democracy casebook and served as the Reporter for the Project on Aggregate Litigation of the American Law Institute.  Among his recent publications are Fragile Democracies (2015) and Democracy Unmoored (2023).  Professor Issacharoff is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.  Professor Issacharoff frequently appears as counsel, particularly on appeals and including before the U.S. Supreme Court.  He has argued many of the leading complex litigation cases in the U.S., including those arising from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill, the NFL Concussion Litigation, and the VW emissions remediation.  He has also lectured on these topics to academic and judicial audiences around the world.
