Prof. Stefaan Voet

Stefaan Voet is a professor of civil procedure at the University of Leuven, Belgium. His research focuses on complex litigation, (consumer) ADR and dispute resolution design. He was a visiting scholar at the Law Center University of Houston (2009) and Stanford Law School (2014). He was a visiting lecturer/professor at universities in the US, South Africa, China, Italy and Brazil. In 2016-2017 he held the TPR (Tijdschrift voor Privaatrecht) Chair at the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands and in 2020 he was an external scientific fellow at the Max Planck Institute Luxembourg for International, European and Regulatory Procedural Law in Luxembourg. In 2023, he was elected member of the Council of the International Association of Procedural Law. He is also a practicing lawyer and a substitute justice of the peace.
