Anneli Howard KC is a silk at Monckton Chambers in London and is also qualified in Ireland and Belgium.  She is recommended by the Legal 500, Chambers and Who’s Who Directories as a leading practitioner in Competition, EU Law, Consumer Protection, Public law, Aviation, Telecoms and Pharma/Life Sciences as well as Collective Redress/Group Litigation. She was the winner of The Legal 500 2018 awards as EU/Competition Junior of the Year and runner-up in both Chambers and Legal 500 2019/2020 awards.

 

Between 2012 and 2025, Anneli was Standing Counsel to the Civil Aviation Authority on all matters relating competition law, consumer law, public law and economic regulation. She has advised a number of UK and overseas regulators and Government Departments on antitrust investigations, state aid and public procurement. She is a contributing author on the chapter on “Remedies in National Courts” in Bellamy & Child  EU Law of Competition (OUP).

 

Anneli regularly acts for both claimants and defendants in follow-on and standalone damages claims for both Chapter I and II, including Visa Interchange, Philips v NDC (FRAND),  National Grid/SSE Power Cables, Vattenfall Windfarms, Foundem v Google (Discrimination/Self-preferencing), Trucks Cartel and Which? v Qualcomm (Excessive royalties/FRAND) , Asda v Bremnes (Salmon cartel), Lenzing v Westlake/Ineos.

 

She is also active in collective and group proceedings: (i) for PCRs: Gutmann v Apple (IPhone slow down);  Spottiswoode v Airwave (excessive pricing) and (ii) Defendant/Intervener side:  Trains Discriminatory pricing  (Boyle); Trains Boundary fares (Gutmann); Roberts v Water Companies (Waste discharge) and Dieselgate pan Nox-GLOs. She also represents complainants, small claimants and defendants in a number of vertical restraints claims relating to RPM, ecommerce restrictions and platform bans, including Ping, Rest & Play, Belle Lingerie v Wacoal and Eurospares v Porsche AG.

 

In November/December 2024 Anneli appeared before the Hong Kong Competition Tribunal, acting for the Hong Kong Competition Commission in its first RPM trial.
