Bernd Jochem joined Rotter Rechtsanwälte in 2000, the year he was admitted to the Bar in Munich. He became a partner at Rotter Rechtsanwälte in 2005. He is a Law graduate of the University of Giessen with an additional year of studies at the University of Keele in the United Kingdom.
His areas of expertise include complex cases of banking and investment law. He has many years of experience in enforcing claims for damages based on incorrect capital market information, incorrect investment counselling and misbehavior of asset managers.
His firm has taken a lead role in several actions on behalf of investors in Germany, where its attorneys have become well-recognized authorities on the advancement of investor rights. The firm’s lawyers have litigated numerous securities cases in Germany and have secured several landmark decisions for investors rendered by the German Federal Court of Justice and European Court of Justice (ECJ), e.g. ECJ decision as of June 28, 2012 (Geltl/Daimler AG – C 19/11). In Germany Mr. Jochem currently is representing international institutional investors in collective damage actions under the Investor Model Proceedings Act (KapMuG) against Mercedes-Benz Group AG, against the auditors of EY in the Wirecard matter and he is representing the new lead plaintiff in the KapMuG-case against Hypo Real Estate GmbH.
He also appeared as counsel of record in class action litigation in the United States working closely together with U.S. lead counsel for plaintiffs in securities class actions on behalf of investors.
