Martina de Lind van Wijngaarden is a partner in the Frankfurt office of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and a member of the dispute resolution practice group of the firm.

Martina has extensive experience in handling high-value mass litigation and complex internal investigations. She is particularly admired for her strategic management and skilful coordination of large-scale multi-jurisdictional proceedings for multinational clients. Her respected litigation practice ranges across sectors, notably the automotive, tech and finance arena, and is bolstered
by her extensive investigation expertise in multiple industries.

For the last nine years Martina has advised Volkswagen AG on its global defence (outside the US and Canada) against customer claims arising from the diesel emissions issue.

Martina is leading the Freshfields team supporting Volkswagen AG and other VW Group companies in customer class action proceedings and proceedings initiated by consumer and/or environmental organizations in various jurisdictions, including Belgium, Brazil, England & Wales,

France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands. In Germany, she is coordinating Volkswagen’s defence against thousands of individual lawsuits arising from claims relating to various diesel engine types.
