Neil Purslow co-founded litigation funder Therium in 2008, was the firm’s Chief Investment Officer from 2008 to 2025 and remains a consultant to the firm as well as being the co-founder and managing partner of Therium Capital Advisors LLP (TCA). TCA helps claimants, corporates, law firms, funders and investors on capital raising, structuring and investing in legal assets. TCA offers end-to end support including funding strategy, investor engagement, financial modelling, deal structuring, ongoing case management and secondary market advisory. Based in London, the firm is advising on deals in the UK, continental Europe and Australia.
Neil has led the funding of claims in litigation and arbitration in multiple jurisdictions across the world, including most major centres for litigation funding and including many of the largest and most high-profile funded cases in the market. He also has a breadth of experience across all forms of legal finance, including single case funding, portfolio, corporate and law firm funding arrangements, and has raised over £1bn of capital for litigation finance.
Neil is the Chairman of the Board of the International Legal Finance Association (ILFA), launched in September 2020, and has also, since 2013, been a board member of the Association of Litigation Funders, the self-regulatory body for the litigation funding industry in England and Wales, of which Therium is a founding member. Neil is a solicitor with over 27 years’ experience of commercial litigation and arbitration. Prior to founding Therium, Neil was Litigation Counsel in-house for Marsh & MacLennan Companies, Inc. (MMC) and before that was in practice in the City of London with U.S. firm Reed Smith and with Withers. Neil has given expert evidence on litigation funding and speaks regularly at conferences and is quoted in the media on the subject. Neil gained an MA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford (1995).
Neil has been recognised in the legal directories as a leader in litigation finance, having been ranked as a Tier 1 individual or Leader by Legal 500, Chambers and Partners, Leaders League, Law Dragon and others.
