Joshua Rozenberg KC (hon) is the UK’s leading legal journalist, known for his independence, authority, and ability to explain complex legal issues with clarity and wit. Trained as a solicitor after reading law at Oxford, he qualified in 1976 but chose journalism over practice — maintaining independence throughout his career.

He is the only journalist ever appointed King’s Counsel honoris causa and an honorary Master of the Bench at Gray’s Inn. From 2019 to 2024, he served as a non-executive board member of the Law Commission.

Joshua writes A Lawyer Writes, his influential Substack publication with more than 21,000 readers, offering incisive commentary on UK legal developments. His podcast, A Lawyer Talks, and his book Enemies of the People? How Judges Shape Society (2020) have both been widely praised.

Previously the BBC’s Legal Correspondent for 15 years, Joshua created and later returned to present Radio 4’s Law in Action (1984–2024). He has also written columns for the Law Society Gazette, The Guardian, The Daily Telegraph, and The Critic.

Honoured with four honorary doctorates in law (Hertfordshire, Nottingham Trent, Lincoln, and the University of Law), Joshua remains a respected voice at legal and academic conferences worldwide. His earlier works include Privacy and the Press, Trial of Strength, The Search for Justice, and The Case for the Crown.

He divides his time between London and Jerusalem.
